Clinical Psychologist for MacDill Air Force Base

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree:  Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Psychology (PsyD).
  • Education: Graduate from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a clinical or counseling psychology doctoral degree.
  • Internship/Residency: An APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship or residency
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience as a licensed clinical psychologist
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license in any state
  • Computers: Minimum intermediate knowledge of computer systems and ability to work proficiently with word processing, data management and spreadsheet data analysis.

DUTIES: 

  • Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
  • Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
  • Assist in the rehabilitation of patients, Individual, family and group psychotherapy, and couples therapy, alcohol and drug treatment evaluations.
  • Provide brief (typically no more than four) cognitive/behavioral interventions in primary care. Services will mimic the pace of primary care (i.e., patients seen for 15- to 30-minute appointments). 
  • Effectively manage a full daily patient load, completing approximately 8-14 patient encounters per day.
  • Participate in military-specific training (e.g., Suicide Risk Assessment, Management, and Treatment, pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, and combat stress, etc.).
  • ​​Consult with medical personnel, legal authorities, military commanders, etc
  • Maintain accurate and current notes in both the Mental Health records and inpatient medical records of all patients seen, and if requested, produce reports of evaluation and/or treatment.
  • Participate in military-specific training (e.g., training to perform Command Directed Evaluations, security clearances, Military Training Instructor clearances, pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, and combat stress).
  • Responsible for applying psychological procedures and techniques, including interviewing, behavioral assessment, evidence-based therapies, and psychological testing/psychodiagnostic testing, in evaluating and diagnosing of disorders according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
  • Treating psychological and neuropsychological disorders.

HOURS:

  • Monday through Friday; 7:30am-4:30pm
  • No weekends, No call
