Overview
Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) is the United States Army’s premier medical institution and the Department of Defense’s largest medical facility. As the DoD’s only Level I Trauma Center, BAMC provides advanced trauma and critical-care services in a high-acuity academic medical environment.
We are seeking full-time Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) to support Trauma/Critical Care Services within the trauma ward clinic. This is an on-site position supporting active duty service members and other eligible beneficiaries.
Schedule & Shift Details
Full-Time | On-Site
Coverage: Monday–Sunday
Shift Length: Primarily 12-hour rotating shifts (may vary up to 14 hours)
Shift Rotation: Day and night shifts rotate on a scheduled basis, typically every 2–4 weeks or by monthly block, depending on service needs
Key Responsibilities
Provide trauma and critical-care services under the supervision of the Trauma Medical Director and attending physicians
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical exams, and ongoing evaluation of critically ill trauma patients
Respond to trauma activations, emergency consultations, and inpatient critical-care needs
Order, interpret, and document diagnostic studies, including laboratory tests and imaging
Assist in the evaluation and management of patients with multiple comorbidities
Perform procedures and interventions within scope of practice and granted privileges
Participate in treatment planning, discharge planning, and continuity of care
Collaborate closely with trauma surgeons, physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with DoD, facility, and regulatory standards
Support quality improvement, patient safety, and trauma program initiatives

Requirements
Current Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in any U.S. state
Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
Ability to work rotating day and night shifts
Trauma, emergency medicine, or critical-care experience preferred
Ability to function independently within scope of practice
U.S. citizenship required
